TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons face the Syracuse Chiefs in the final game of a three-game set at Alliance Bank Stadium (7:00 p.m.). The clubs split a doubleheader last night. This will be the final meeting between the Herd and its Thruway rival this season. Tomorrow, the Bisons open a two-game series against the IronPigs in Lehigh Valley.
THRUWAY CUP: The Bisons (15-9) lead the 2012 Thruway Series by two games over the Chiefs (15-13). With a 10-4 mark against Syracuse, the Herd has reached double-digit wins against its rival for the first time since going 11-5 against the Chiefs in 2006. This is also the Bisons first season series win over Syracuse since a 9-7 mark in 2007.
McHUGH: RHP COLLIN McHUGH makes his 10th start with the Bisons and his first against the Chiefs. The Triple-A rookie has allowed three of fewer runs in seven consecutive starts. However, the righty has been snake-bit with just one victory in those seven outings. McHugh has left after six innings with leads of 4-0 and 4-2 in his last two outings but didn't earn a victory.
UPPER DEKKER: OF MATT DEN DEKKER clubbed his first professional grand slam in last night's Game 2 win. The Triple-A rookie also singled in a run in Game 1 and now has 32RBI in only 50 games with the Bisons. den Dekker also has 20 extra-base hits since joining the Bisons on June 12, tied for the 10th most for all International League hitters during that time frame.
SILKY: Despite going 1-3 last night, INF JOSH SATIN saw his International League-leading on-base percentage drop a point to .402. The mark is still two points better than Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's DH Jack Cust. Since the All-Star break, Satin is hitting .348 (23-66) with a .494 on-base percentage.
BISONS BITS: With the debus of RHP ZACK WHEELER, LHP C.J. NITKOWSKI and RHP SCOTT PATTERSON, the Bisons have now had 61 different players this season. The modern era record is 67 set during the 2000 campaign...The Bisons disabled list has swelled to seven players. The club has seen 19 trips to the DL for a grand total of 514 man-games missed...RHP FERNANDO CABRERA is one save away from being just the sixth Bisons reliever in the modern era to record a 20-save season.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (53-56) were off on Monday but were active. The club announced that it will promote LHP GARRETT OLSON from the Bisons tonight before their 7:10 p.m. game against the Marlins. Olson led all active Bisons pitchers with 94 strikeouts and 108.2 innings of work. The southpaw was 4-7 with a 4.56ERA in 25 games/21 starts.
