Today's Game:
The Buffalo Bisons take on the Louisville Bats in the first game of a four-game series from Louisville Slugger Field (6:35 p.m.). The Bisons are coming off a 3-5 homestand than included a four-game split with the Bats. Buffalo is 11-3 on the road this season.
vs. the Bats
The Bisons have not won a four-game series at Louisville Slugger Field since going 3-1 in 2008. Since then, the Bats have two series wins and two splits with the Herd at home. Since rejoining the IL in 1998, the Bisons are just 27-33 (.450) in Kentucky.
On the Road Again
The Bisons are 11-3 away from Coca-Cola Field this season. The club has a pair of splits to go along with series sweeps in Syracuse (April 15-18) and Lehigh Valley (4/19-22). The Bisons team ERA on the road is 3.49, over a run better than their home mark of 4.68.
Back at it
RHP DAVE BUSH starts tonight on short rest. The veteran pitched Monday in a defeat to Norfolk. Bush is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in two road starts this season. In each of those outings (April 20 in Lehigh Valley and April 30 in Rochester), he allowed just one earned run in six innings.
Jim Negrych
INF JIM NEGRYCH'S eight-game hit streak has actually lowered his baseball-best average of .427. During the stretch since May 2, he has averaged .424 (14-33). Negrych also leads all IL hitters in on-base pct. (.477) and slugging pct (.677) and is 2nd in doubles (13) and 5th in runs scored (21). He leads the Bisons with 12 multi-hit games this year.
Topping the Charts
INF LUIS JIMENEZ (.365), C JOSH THOLE (.354) and OF MOISES SIERRA (.347) rank 3rd-5th in the IL in hitting. Jimenez leads the league in RBI (32) and is 2nd in slugging pct (.644). OF ANTHONY GOSE is tops in the league with 27 runs scored.
Bisons Bits
INF ANDY LaROCHE has hit in six straight games with a .435 average (10-23) since May 3...RHP NEIL WAGNER has allowed just two hits in his last nine appearances (9.0 IP, 14 SO).
Roster Move
LHP ALEX HINSHAW has been released by the Blue Jays. The southpaw was 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA in 12 games with the Herd. He had 16 strikeouts and 17 walks in 11.0 innings of work.
Toronto's (13-23) lost a 5-4 extra-inning affair with the Rays on Thursday. Former Bisons RHP R.A. DICKEY allowed just two earned runs in six innings but did not earn a decision. OF RAJAI DAVIS had two hits and two steals. The Blue Jays take on the Red Sox tonight at 7:10 p.m.
