Bisons Introduce New Mascot, Belle, "The Ballpark Diva"
May 7, 2006 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Buffalo Bisons introduced Belle, "The Ballpark Diva," this afternoon in-between games of their doubleheader against the Ottawa Lynx. The newest addition to the Bisons Mascot Family made her debut memorable by emerging from a diamond yellow Hummer to sing for the fans at Dunn Tire Park.
Born in Buffalo, Belle moved to Hollywood where she became a singing sensation, selling out concert hall after concert hall. Known for her fashion sense, Belle is a softer, gentler mascot that will appeal to all fans, especially young, female fans.
Belle returns to Buffalo after signing a one-year contract with the Bisons to perform at Dunn Tire Park for the remainder of the season. As part of the agreement, Belle will debut several songs inside the ballpark as well as produce a music video that will have its world premier viewing on the Dunn Tire Park Big Board.
The contract was just signed this morning as Belle met with Bisons' officials after a red-eye flight from California. She then made her Dunn Tire Park debut after the first game of the Herd's doubleheader against the Ottawa Lynx. A diamond yellow Hummer, compliments of Hummer of Buffalo, drove in from right field to a red carpet that awaited "The Ballpark Diva." Belle then emerged to sing one of her hit singles for the fans inside Dunn Tire Park.
"We are extremely excited about bringing one of Hollywood's premier performers here to Buffalo," said Matt La Sota, GameDay Entertainment and Promotions Coordinator of the Buffalo Bisons. "Belle has real star power and will bring an extra level of excitement and entertainment to Dunn Tire Park."
After this afternoon's debut performance in Buffalo, Belle held a special autograph session in the Dunn Tire Park concourse area. Fans received a complimentary poster of "The Ballpark Diva" for her to sign.
A flustered, star-struck Buster T. Bison was unavailable for comment shortly after Belle's debut. He was, however, seen on the field in awe of Belle's beauty and singing ability.
Throughout the season, Belle will perform various songs for Bisons fans at Dunn Tire Park on Friday nights as well as during special events. Known for her fashion sense, Belle will wear several different outfits, and of course, have different hairstyles to match her clothes.
During Bisons home games throughout the season, Belle will make appearances in the new Bisons Fun Zone, sponsored by Lifetime Health Medical Group, located behind section 100 of the ballpark. There, kids can meet Belle, get autographs, take a spin at the Bisons' Prize Wheel and purchase special Belle merchandise.
