Gwinnett Stripers News Release
The Mud Hens blanked the Braves 1-0 at Fifth Third Field Saturday. Four Toledo pitchers scattered nine hits as the Hens beat the Braves for the second time in three games. The Hens scored the game's only run in the last of the eighth on a bases-loaded walk to former Brave Mike Hessman. The Braves stranded six runners in scoring position. Two Richmond rallies were snuffed out by double plays. Kevin Barry pitched six outstanding innings for the Braves, allowing just two hits while striking out a club season high 10. Colby Lewis pitched seven scoreless innings for Toledo with no decision. Hector Mercado picked up the win. Lee Gardner earned the save. Franklin Nunez took the loss. Wes Timmons, Scott Thorman, and Carlos Mendez all had two hits for the Braves. Three Braves pitchers allowed only five hits.
