Bisons Announce Schedule For "Robert E. Rich High School Baseball Classic"

The Buffalo Bisons today announced the schedule for the third annual "Robert E. Rich Memorial High School Baseball Classic." The two-day, single-elimination tournament will be held at Dunn Tire Park from Saturday, April 19 - Sunday, April 20.

The tournament will begin with Cardinal O'Hara facing McKinley on April 19 (9:00 a.m.). The first day of games will continue as St. Mary's of Lancaster squares off with 2007 runner-up Clarence. St. Francis faces Williamsville South and St. Joe's will take on Niagara Wheatfield in the other two opening-round games.

Admission to all games is free.

"Already in its third year, this tournament gives sports fans a great opportunity to see some of the exciting high school baseball talent that Western New York has to offer," said Mike Buczkowski, Vice President/General Manager of the Buffalo Bisons. "Being able to showcase that talent in one of the premier ballparks in this country is a real treat."

Each team will play on Saturday, with the four winning teams advancing to the semi-finals on Sunday morning. The two victors from those games will play in the Championship game on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The winning school will take home the Robert E. Rich Cup.

All games are scheduled for seven innings and all players must use wooden bats.
