
Braves winning streak ends at six

Allentown, PA. - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs beat the Richmond Braves 3-1 Monday at Coca-Cola Park. The IronPigs took advantage of a key error to score two unearned runs and end a six game Braves winning streak and the IronPigs 11 game losing skid.
Lehigh Valley scored twice in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. The IronPigs followed an error on a force play with an RBI double by Andy Tracy and a sacrifice fly by Brennan King. The IronPigs stretched their advantage to 3-0 in the sixth on a sac fly by Casey Smith. Richmond rallied back in the seventh on an RBI single by Josh Anderson to cut the IronPigs lead to 3-1. Richmond threatened in the ninth but stranded two runners.
Ron Chiavacci picked up the win. Chuck James took the loss. Matt Childers notched a save. Anderson and Joe Borchard had two hits for Richmond. The Braves stranded 10 runners.
Richmond continues their road trip at Rochester with a doubleheader Tuesday starting at 6:05. Jonathon Rouwenhorst and Charlie Morton are slated to pitch for the Braves against Phillip Humber and Casey Daigle.
