April 3, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Buffalo Bisons are pleased to announce that Buffalo Police Department officer Carl Andolina and Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown will each throw out a ceremonial first pitch on Opening Day on Thursday, April 5 against the Richmond Braves at Dunn Tire Park (3:05 p.m.).
"The Bisons organization is honored to have officer Andolina and Mayor Brown here for Opening Day," said Mike Buczkowski, Vice President/General Manager of the Bisons. "With both of our esteemed guests at Dunn Tire Park, I can't imagine a better way to begin the 20th season of baseball in downtown Buffalo."
Bisons players will also wear COPP hats for the ceremonial pre-game line up on the field. After the national anthem, the players will each autograph their hat to be auctioned off during the game. All proceeds will go to Community Outreach for Patty Parete, Andolina's partner that was wounded in the line of duty last December.
Buffalo police officers will also be selling $10 raffle tickets at each of Dunn Tire Park's gates for a grand prize drawing of four 2007 season tickets during the game, donated by the Bisons. COPP hats will be available for purchase at the Batter's Box Gift Shop for $15 with the proceeds going to the Community Outreach for Patty Parete.
As part of the pre game ceremonies, the Bisons will also start their season-long "20 Years Together Downtown" celebration with a flag raising, video board tribute, special on-field recognitions and a pyrotechnics display in left field.
Ms. Arin Lee Dandes will perform the star spangled banner and the Buffalo Police Department will present the colors. The Bisons Big Board will show a new Opening Day video as well as a video showcase of what's new around Dunn Tire Park.
