Buffalo Bisons News Release
Buffalo Bisons Manager Torey Lovullo today announced that right-handed pitcher Adam Miller will be the starter for the Herd on Opening Day, Thursday, April 5 against the Richmond Braves at Dunn Tire Park (3:05 p.m.).
Miller, 21, is coming off a spectacular season as he went 15-6 with a 2.75ERA in 26 games with Double-A Akron. He was named Eastern League Pitcher of the Year, leading the league in wins, finishing second in ERA and third with 157 strikeouts. He also made one spot start for Buffalo on August 21, earning a no-decision after 4.2 innings against Scranton/WB.
Miller was named the Indians' #1 prospect by Baseball America prior to this season. After throwing 14 shutout innings for Cleveland this spring (8H, 3BB, 8K), he went 1-0 with a 3.75ERA in two exhibition starts with the Bisons (12.0IP, 10H, 7R, 5ER, BB, 7K).
Thursday's season opener will be Lovullo's 700th regular-season game as a manager. The Bisons skipper is 397-302 in five seasons in the Cleveland Indians' system. He has posted a winning record in each year on the bench with a .570 career winning percentage.
