Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Buffalo Bisons and the Hunter's Hope Foundation announce Hunter's Hope Night with the Bisons at Coca-Cola Field on Friday, July 9, 2010 during the team's 7:35 p.m. game against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees.

The special evening will include a variety of activities to help raise funds for Hunter's Hope, including an autograph session with Hall of Fame Member and former Buffalo Bills Quarterback Jim Kelly. In addition to raising funds for research efforts to identify new treatments, therapies and ultimately a cure for Krabbe disease and other leukodystrophies, the evening will also help broaden public awareness of the importance of universal and expanded newborn screening.

"Typically, I'm a football guy," said former Buffalo Bills Quarterback Jim Kelly. "But the Buffalo Bisons have really stepped up to the plate in hosting this special evening for us. I'm proud that they are part of our team - we can't do this alone, and the Bisons understand that. They know what it's like to be part of a team working toward something great - something that is making a difference in the lives of thousands of children; not just here in Western New York, but throughout the country."

"The Buffalo Bisons have always represented the best family sports experience in Western New York," said Mike Buczkowski, Vice President/General Manager of the Buffalo Bisons. "The message that Hunter's Hope represents is vital to the new and future families of our community. We are happy to help them expand their reach by hosting this great event."

Coca-Cola Field gates will open at 6:35 p.m. for the 7:35 p.m. game start time on July 9, 2010. The Buffalo Bisons will take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees while wearing custom designed caps bearing the Hunter's Hope logo. The game-worn caps will be raffled off during the game in the concourse and then autographed by the Bisons players after the contest. The evening will also include an autograph session with Hall of Fame Member and former Buffalo Bills Quarterback Jim Kelly, the chance to go on the field to catch a football toss from Kelly between innings, a silent auction with collectibles from Kelly, the Buffalo Bisons and the New York Mets, and more. Fans and supporters of the organization may purchase special tickets prior to or on the night of the game, with a portion of these ticket sales benefiting the Foundation.

"We're thankful to have this opportunity to partner with the Buffalo Bisons during this special game," shared Hunter's Hope CEO, Jacque Waggoner. "It's such a blessing to be invited to share our mission and our Foundation with Bisons fans and families throughout Western New York. Education and awareness are very important for our organization - without education and awareness, along with generous donations we receive from events such as this; we could not continue to make great strides in Universal Newborn Screening and our efforts to find a cure for Krabbe Leukodystrophy and other leukodystrophies."

Proceeds raised during the game will be presented during the WGR 550 Radiothon Benefiting Hunter's Hope on August 12 and 13, 2010.
