Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons dropped game one of their final regular season homestand against the Montgomery Biscuits by a score of 7-2 in front of 5,773 fans at Regions Field.

The Biscuits would take an early 1-0 lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Kyeong Kang, scoring Curt Casali from third.

Starter Scott Snodgress (11-11, 4.70) would work around base runners for much of the night but ran into trouble in the fifth, allowing a leadoff walk to Ryan Brett and a base hit to Delmon Young before a two-run double by Mikie Mahtook gave the Biscuits a 3-0 lead. Mahtook would later advance to third on a wild pitch and score when the throw by Mike Blanke sailed into left field. Snodgress was removed from the game in favor of Kevin Vancewho brought home the fourth run of the inning on a bases loaded walk to Kang to give the Biscuits a 5-0 lead.

The Barons would score their only two runs of the game in the 7th when shortstop Shawn O'Malley threw the ball into the Barons dugout on a ground ballby Jared Mitchell, allowing Mike Blanke and David Herbek to score and cutting the Biscuits' lead to 5-2.

The Biscuits would put the game out of reach in the 9th with a two-run homer by Cameron Seitzer against reliever David Cales to take a 7-2 lead.

Barons'infielder Micah Johnson finished 3-for-5 in his Double-A debut with three infield singles. Johnson, who was promoted to Birmingham earlier in theday from Class A Winston-Salem, leads all Minor League players with 83 steals so far this season.

With the loss, the Barons fell to 75-61 and 31-35 in the second half while Montgomery improved to 69-67 and 32-34 in the second half.

The Barons will look to rebound tomorrow night as RHP Scott Carroll (0-2, 4.91) takes the hill against RHP Victor Mateo (6-9, 4.06). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CDT.
