Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY - Montgomery will have a chance to meet the 2006 Biscuits before the Southern League club takes the field for its opener on Thursday.
The third annual "Meet the Team" event will be held in the food court at Eastdale Mall on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Biscuits fans are encouraged to attend.
Players and coaches will be introduced one-by-one by Biscuits play-by-play voice Jim Tocco. Afterward, players will be available for one hour to sign autographs.
"It's called 'Meet the Team,' but for us, we've always enjoyed it because we get to meet the community," said Biscuits manager Charlie Montoyo, back for his third year. "I've always said, short of the Major Leagues, there's no better place to be than Montgomery."
This event was held at Eastdale Mall in 2004, when the first Biscuits team came to town. In 2005, it was held at Riverwalk Stadium.
"We're so glad that the Biscuits chose to move the event back to Eastdale Mall," said Eastdale Mall Marketing Director Anna Tadlock. "This is a tremndous opportunity for fans to get face-to-face with the team that represents our town."
The Biscuits open their season on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at Riverwalk Stadium against the Tennessee Smokies.
