
Stars Announce 2006 Roster

Huntsville Stars News Release
The Huntsville Stars, who open the 2006 season Thursday night against the Mississippi Braves in Pearl, have officially announced their Opening Day roster. Ten members of the 23-man squad spent parts of or all of last season with the Stars. . Pitchers Khalid Ballouli, Mike Meyers, Andy Pratt, Gerrit Simpson, Carlos Villanueva and Alec Zumwalt will all return to Huntsville to lead the 12-man pitching staff. Meyers and Zumwalt finished the 2005 season in Nashville and helped the Sounds claim the Pacific Coast League title. Meyers also was a member of the Canadian team during the inaugural World Baseball Classic earlier this spring.
Infielders Callix Crabbe, Adam Heether and Guilder Rodriguez return for a second spin through the Southern League with the Stars and will be joined by first baseman Greg Sain, the 2004 Southern League home run champion while with Mobile. Kennard Bibbs is the only returnee among the four outfielders and catchers Lou Palmisano and Jean Boscan join the Stars for the first time.
