Biscuits Rally for Thursday Win over Suns

Jacksonville, Fla. - Matt Spring drove in two runs with a two-out, eighth inning double rallying the Montgomery Biscuits (39-42, 6 -5) past the Jacksonville Suns (42-39, 7-4) with a 5-4 final in front of 8,236 Thursday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Biscuits reliever Raynor Oliveros (3-0) picked up the victory, pitching two scoreless innings with three hits. Suns reliever Adalberto Mendez (2-3) fell in the loss, charged with two runs without allowing a hit. Paul Phillips (3) saved the game for Montgomery with a perfect ninth inning.

For the fourth straight game Montgomery scored in the first inning as Rashad Eldridge singled home Desmond Jennings for a 1-0 score. Jacksonville answered in the bottom of the first as Bryan Petersen hit a leadoff homerun for a 1-1 deadlock.

Montgomery regained the lead in the second inning as Joe Gaetti hit his second homerun with the Biscuits, a two-run homerun off Suns starter Nic Ungs for a 3-1 Montgomery lead.

Rain came after three innings, delaying the game 42 minutes. Once play resumed Jacksonville added a run in the fourth inning on a Chris de la Cruz groundout RBI for a 3-2 Montgomery lead.

The Suns took the lead in the sixth inning. The first two batters of the inning, Logan Morrison and Mike Stanton walked and would later come in on two different passed balls for a 4-3 Jacksonville lead.

Montgomery regained the lead for good in the eighth inning scoring two runs on the Matt Spring double. Suns reliever Adalberto Mendez left the game following back-to-back two-out walks. Reliever Kasey Olenberger allowed an infield hit before the deciding hit from Spring that drove in the tying and go-ahead runs.

Suns RH Willie Glen will face Biscuits RH Aneury Rodriguez in game six of the series Friday at 7:05 p.m. The Suns will celebrate Suns owner and chairman Peter Bragan, Sr.'s 86th birthday while enjoying Pre-Independence Day fireworks.
