Biloxi Shuckers News Release
MONTGOMERY, AL - The Montgomery Biscuits (4-3) limited the Biloxi Shuckers (4-4) to just one run as the Shuckers fell 7-1 on Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
Shuckers RHP Braden Webb (L, 0-2) walked the tightrope early, loading the bases on three walks in the first. The righty wriggled of the hook with a couple of pop outs and retired the side in order in the second. Montgomery broke through in the third, though, on back to back knocks by Lucius Fox and Josh Lowe, giving the Biscuits a 1-0 edge.
Trent Grisham gave the Shuckers a chance to respond immediately with a leadoff hustle double in the top of the fourth. LHP Josh Fleming (W, 1-0) doused the Biloxi rally, striking out two of the next three batters and retiring the Shuckers in order after Grisham.
In the home half of the fourth, Montgomery plated four runs against Webb, chasing the Shuckers starter thanks to doubles from Rene Pinto, Kevin Padlo and Fox. Webb departed after 3.2 innings of work, allowing five runs on six hits while walking three and striking out four.
The Shuckers lone run came in the fifth. Patrick Leonard doubled to the left field gap and came in to score on a groundout by Bruce Caldwell. After a Grisham single to start the sixth, the Shuckers did not manage another base runner. RHP Blake Bevins (S, 1) picked up the three-inning save, striking out one.
Biloxi can even their series with the Biscuits on Saturday night at 6:05 pm. Coming off his first complete game, RHP Thomas Jankins (1-0, 0.00) will take the hill for Biloxi. Montgomery will send an opener to the mound, and LHP Kenny Rosenberg (0-0, 7.20) will be the first pitcher out of the bullpen for the Biscuits. The game can be heard locally on Cruisin' WGCM AM 1240/100.9 FM, TuneIn Radio or the MiLB First Pitch App.
