Montgomery Biscuits News Release
ZEBULON, N. Car. - The Montgomery Biscuits scored four runs in the ninth inning at Five County Stadium Saturday night and managed to get the potential game-tying runs on base but their late charge could not overcome the Carolina Mudcats' large lead. The Mudcats won, 9-7, and sealed a series victory.
The Biscuits dropped to 32-31 for the season. Montgomery is 2-7 on the roadtrip, 2-8 in June and 3-13 since May 26.
In the Ninth inning, the Biscuits sent their entire batting order to the plate. With the bases loaded, Gabriel Martinez walked, Michael Coleman was hit by a pitch, Jason Pridie singled and Matthew Maniscalco plated a run on a groundout. With Maniscalco and Coleman on base, Chairon Isenia grounded out to end the game.
The Mudcats built an 8-1 lead by the end of the sixth, knocking Biscuits starter Chris Flinn out of the game with one out in the fifth inning. Lee Mitchell homered twice and added an RBI double in the onslaught. The Mudcats knocked out 13 hits in all.
Former Biscuit Frank Moore doubled in two runs in the sixth against Montgomery reliever Jean Machi.
The BIscuits finish their roadtrip Sunday afternoon at 1 Central Time. Lefty Jason Cromer will pitch.
