Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY -- Carmen Pignatiello gave up just one run in seven innings, leading the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx to a 5-1 victory over the Montgomery Biscuits on Saturday night before 6,532 at Riverwalk Stadium. Pignatiello's lone blemish was a Dan DeMent home run in the first.
West Tenn broke a 1-1 tie in the third when Matt Craig doubled off of the right field wall to score Josh Arteaga. Micah Hoffpauir moved to third on the play. Two consecutive walks by Biscuits starter Jason Cromer would allow Hoffpauir to cross the plate to make the game 3-1. Paul O'Toole then singled to left to score Craig. A sacrifice fly by Ronny Cedeno would end the scoring for the night.
West Tenn failed to get a runner past second base after the four run third inning, however, Montgomery could not get a runner past second after DeMent's first inning blast.
The Biscuits and Diamond Jaxx will play game two of the series on Sunday at 6:05. Montgomery right hander Jose Diaz will face West Tenn lefty Andy Pratt.
