July 28, 2023 - Southern League (SL)
Birmingham Barons News Release
The Birmingham Barons fell to the Biloxi Shuckers in Game 3 by a final score of 7-1. The Barons now extend their losing streak to six games in a row, three straight to the Shuckers.
In the loss, the Barons were not able to find any sort of rhythm offensively. Birmingham ended the game with three total hits. The Barons secured their hits in the first, second and ninth inning. The Barons that recorded a hit in the ballgame were Xavier Fernandez, Terrell Tatum and Ben Norman, respectively.
Unlike their hits, Birmingham's runs would not escape the first inning as their long run came in the top of the first. The Barons collected their run on an RBI single from Fernandez that scored Moises Castillo.
The Barons also had their struggles from the mound as starting RHP Jonathan Cannon gave up seven earned runs on five hits and five walks in 3.2 IP. Cannon had his struggles; however, the bullpen was able to give relief for the remainder of the ballgame. RHP Yoelvin Silven, RHP Jeremiah Burke and RHP Nick Gallagher finished the night off for the Barons on the mound. The trio combined for two hits, zero runs and one walk allowed to go with two strikeouts.
Birmingham has come up short in all three games against Biloxi in this series, however, they have three more opportunities against the Shuckers. The Barons now turn their attention to Game 4 as RHP Matt Thompson takes the bump for the Friday night contest.
