'Birds Win Fourth Straight, Improve to 12-1 at Home

The Lake County Captains jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third after Dennis Robinson walked Chris Gimenez with the bases loaded scoring Fernando Pacheco. Robinson then induced a clutch double play to get out of the bases loaded jam. Delmarva took advantage of three hit batsman, two walks and two base hits including an RBI single by Jason Fransz to answer with three in the third. The Shorebirds added one more in the fifth when Paco Figuero led off with a double the moved to third on a Gary Cates sacrifice bunt and scored on the sacrifice fly by Arturo Rivas. Giving the ‘Birds a 4-1 lead after five. The Captains cut the lead to two in the sixth after three consecutive hits from Tim Montgomery, Josh Noviskey, and Chad Longworth. The ‘Birds cracked back with another insurance run in the seventh on a Rivas RBI single scoring Gary Cates who doubled with one out. Lake County added another run in the eighth but Casey Cahill came on with two out and struck out Chris Clem looking to end the threat. Cahill stayed on in the ninth to earn his fourth save.
