Rosemont, IL - Jabari Henry belted a pair of homeruns and finished the game with five RBI while Ozzie Martinez added a three-run shot of his own but it wasn't enough as the Birds fell to Chicago 12-9 on Wednesday.
The Dogs built an early 2-0 lead but Kona Quiggle led off the fourth inning with a single before Henry launched a ball over the left field fence to tie the game.
But Chicago regained a one-run advantage in the home half of the inning with a bases-loaded single before adding two more runs in the fifth inning and striking for seven in the sixth.
Martinez delivered a two-out, three run blast in the top of the seventh inning and the Birds made things interesting with four runs in their half of the ninth.
Nick Gotta delivered a two-out, pinch hit RBI double and Henry crushed another long ball, this time with two men on base but the game would end with a flyout a batter later.
Gavin LaValley finished the game 4-5 offensively as Sioux Falls outhit Chicago 13-10 for the contest. The Birds (5-13) will close their six-game roadtrip with a 6pm contest against Chicago on Thursday.
