Sioux Falls Canaries News Release
Sioux Falls, SD - Kona Quiggle crushed his fifth homerun of the season; a solo shot with two outs in the ninth inning but it wasn't enough to help Sioux Falls avoid a three-game series sweep as the Canaries fell to Fargo-Moorhead 5-1 on Thursday.
The RedHawks cashed in on an Evan Alexander leadoff double in the top of the first inning, scoring him with a sacrifice fly. Nick Novak doubled with two outs in the top of the second and was driven in on an RBI single from Christian Correa.
Manuel Boscan led off the top of the third inning with a homerun and drove in Novak with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. The score held until Correa brought in Ben Livorsi with a base hit in the eighth inning. Former Canary reliever Brady Stover retired the first two batters in the bottom of the ninth before Quiggle's homerun and the game ended a batter later with a groundout.
Five different Canaries recorded a hit in the game as the Birds drop to 23-34 overall. Up next is a three-game weekend series against Kane County beginning Friday night at 7:05pm.
