
Binghamton Senators Game Recap: Sens reach 100 points with 5-2 win against Penguins

The Binghamton Senators came out flying in the first period, scoring four goals on their first seven shots en route to a franchise record 44 wins. Chris Neil, Josh Langfeld, Jason Spezza, and Denis Hamel each picked up a goal to give the Sens a 4-0 lead in the early going. With Langfeld and Spezza each reaching the 30-goal mark for the year, the Senators became the first team in the American Hockey League to have four 30-goal scorers in one season since the 1998-99 Albany River Rats.
The Penguins brought the score to 4-1 when Kris Beech picked up a goal at the 10:10 mark of the opening frame.
The second period featured only one goal scored between the teams as Jason Spezza picked up his second of the contest at the with 1:40 left in the middle stanza. Brian Pothier and Chris Kelly picked up the assists on Spezza's 31st tally of the season.
Maxime Talbot made the score 5-2 with under five minutes left in the game. Kyle Rossiter and Chris Kelleher were credited with the assists.
Ray Emery stopped 20 of 22 shots in the win for the Sens while Dany Sabourin made 34 saves on 39 shots in the loss.
Binghamton was 0 for 2 on the power play while Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was 0 for 5 with the man advantage.
The Sens hit the road immediately following the game as they head to Bridgeport, CT for a 4:05 p.m. affair with the Sound Tigers on Sunday. You can catch all of the action beginning at 3:35 p.m. on WINR 680-AM.
