Binghamton Falls to Somerset on Thursday

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (18-17, 53-51) fell behind early and dropped the contest with the Somerset Patriots, 14-0, on Thursday night at TD Bank Ballpark.

Somerset (19-16, 61-42) scored twice in the first inning against Tyler Stuart (2-1), highlighted by a sacrifice fly from Anthony Seigler.

Up 2-0 in the second, the Patriots added five runs on an RBI double from Max Burt, RBI single from Eduardo Torrealba and a three-run homer from Ben Rice.

The Patriots scored three more runs in the fourth on two sacrifice flies and an RBI single from Jesus Bastidas.

Somerset led 10-0 in the fifth before adding four runs, highlighted by a three-run homer from Elijah Dunham.

Junior Santos shut the Patriots down the rest of the way, tossing three no-hit innings with three strikeouts. The only baserunner that reached against Santos reached on an error.

Mateo Gil went 2-for-2 with two singles and a walk and had two of the Ponies' three hits.

The Rumble Ponies will continue their series with the Patriots at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and pregame coverage will begin at 6:50 p.m. on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.

Postgame Notes: Drew Gilbert had a hit...Daniel Juarez tossed two scoreless innings in relief...Binghamton's four pitchers did not issue a walk, but allowed 14 runs on 17 hits...The Rumble Ponies are now a game back from Somerset for first place in the Northeast Division.
