Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced today the team has re-signed goaltender Tim Boron (Bir-AWN) and defenseman Robbie Bina (BEE-na) has been added to the active roster.
Additionally, it was announced the Springfield Falcons have recalled rookie center Les Reaney (RAIN-ee) from the Thunder and re-assigned him to the Rapid City Rush of the Central Hockey League.
Bina (jersey number 5) was assigned to the Thunder from Springfield on Oct. 14 and is expected to make his pro debut this Saturday when the Thunder hosts the Fresno Falcons at 7:30 p.m. from Stockton Arena.
Boron, 25, ranked tied for third in the ECHL with three shutouts last season, establishing a new Thunder season record in the process. The 6-foot, 177-pound netminder was claimed by the Thunder off waivers from the Charlotte Checkers on November 26, 2007 and in two seasons with the ECHL's Thunder, Las Vegas Wranglers and Central Hockey League's Colorado Eagles, Boron has tallied a 25-21-3 record, a goals-against-average of 3.02 and a save percentage of .910.
The Thunder is carrying two goaltenders (Boron, Bryan Pitton) on its active roster. Rookie goaltender Andrew Perugini is currently inactive (immigration pending) from the season opening roster as of Oct. 16.
The Thunder opens the 2008-09 regular season at Stockton Arena on Saturday, Oct. 18 against the Fresno Falcons at 7:30 p.m. for "Opening Night," presented by Coors Light, Food 4 Less, Chase Chevrolet of Stockton, Jackson Rancheria and KAT Country 103 with an additional schedule magnet giveaway slated for the game, courtesy of Valley Brew to the first 1,000 fans in attendance.
