James Reimer Assigned To Reading

Reading Royals News Release


Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the Marlies have assigned goaltender James Reimer ["RHYME er"] to the Royals. In separate transactions previously completed, the Marlies recalled goaltender Michael Ouzas ["OOZ us"] from Reading and re-assigned him to the Fresno Falcons of the ECHL.

Reimer (6'3/208) (20), who hails from Arborg, Manitoba, is entering his first season of pro after playing the last three seasons for the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League. A fourth round pick of the Maple Leafs in 2006, Reimer compiled a record of 41-56-14 with four shutouts and a 2.72 goals against average in 124 major junior games during his tenure with Red Deer. In a poll conducted by players, coaches and management at the conclusion of the 2007-08 season, Reimer was named the top goaltender in the WHL.

The Royals open the 2008-09 regular season against the Elmira Jackals on Friday, October 17, 2008 at First Arena in Elmira, New York. The Royals' home opener is set for Saturday, October 25, 2008, when the Johnstown Chiefs visit the Sovereign Center. Royals' full Season Tickets and Total Choice Flex Plans are now on sale.
