Helena Bighorns News Release

With six points each, Helena Bighorns forward Blake Page and Southern Minnesota Express forward Ryan Guentzel have been named co-winners of the Sher-wood NAHL Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending November 27

It's been a rough season for the Bighorns, but they have won two straight and three of five, and one of the big contributors to the rebound has been Page. The San Juan Capistrano, California native was a powerhouse for Helena last weekend, starting with his performance against Bismarck on Friday, November 25. With the Bighorns nursing a 1-0 first period lead, Page scored a shorthanded goal, his league-leading third of the season, to extend the Helena margin. In the second period, he set up the Bighorns' third goal. Then after the Bobcats got on the board in the second, Page set up the fourth Helena tally. As the game wound down and the Bobcats had drawn to a one-goal deficit, 6-5, Page deposited a last minute empty netter into the vacant Bismarck goal to seal the Helena victory.

The next night against Billings, Page's early second period goal extended the Helena lead to 3-0. Before the period ended, Page added another assist as the Bighorns eventually defeated the Bulls 6-2. One of the NAHL's better penalty killers, Page was key in the Bighorns shutting down the Bulls power play, which was blanked in five man-advantage opportunities.

"It was great to see one of our players get recognized at the league level," said Bighorns President, Mike Butters. "His (Page) award was reflective of the team effort we had last weekend. Several players played strong, including Page and we want to build on that in our next 7 games before the break."

The Bighorns travel to Billings today to face the Bulls and return home this Friday and Saturday to face their division rival Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Tickets for this weekends games can be reserved by calling the Bighorn Ticket Hotline at (406) 457-2817.
