Saint John Sea Dogs News Release

TORONTO - Four Saint John Sea Dogs prospects took advantage of their time to shine at the Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game Wednesday in Toronto.

Forwards Jonathan Huberdeau and Zack Phillips had a goal and an assist each and defenseman Nathan Beaulieu also scored as Team Orr topped Team Cherry 7-1.

Phillips set up what proved to be the game-winning goal for Sven Bartschi of the Portland Winterhawks at 5:26 of the second period. Huberdeau, an alternate captain, added an insurance marker at 9:30 of the second, banging in a rebound to make it 3-0.

After Team Cherry got a goal back, Beaulieu set off a four-goal outburst with his goal at 2:58, assisted by Huberdeau.

The Top Prospects Game showcases 40 of the best Canadian Hockey League players eligible for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. The Sea Dogs were the best-represented team in Canada, with four players in the game, including forward Tomas Jurco, who was held off the scoresheet for Team Cherry.

Jurco, however, dropped jaws in Tuesday's skills competition with a phenomenal shootout move that earned him a score of 39 out of 40.

It was a banner day for Saint John in terms of national attention. The Sea Dogs were also named top team in Canada in the weekly CHL MasterCard Top 10 rankings for the sixth straight time, a team record.

The Sea Dogs (35-5-1-2) are on the road for the next four games, including three in three nights on the weekend, beginning in Baie-Comeau Friday, with visits to Chicoutimi Saturday, and Quebec Sunday. Sea Dogs play-by-play voice Tim Roszell will have the call on News 88.9 FM. Fans can also catch all the action online via the official TELUS QMJHL webcast (click HERE to order; charges apply).

Saint John's next home games are Jan. 29 and 30 against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. Tickets can be obtained by calling the Harbour Station box office at (506) 657-1234, or by visiting www.tickets.harbourstation.ca.
