CORPUS CHRISTI - The Hooks erupted for seven two-out runs in a stirring come-from-behind win over Tulsa Tuesday night, taking the series opener, 7-3, before 7,014 fans at Whataburger Field.

Rehabbing Astro Jose Altuve went 0-for-5 while working all nine innings at second base. Its marked Altuve's first appearance in a Hooks uniform since earning a direct promotion to Houston in 2011. The Whataburger Field crowd of over 7,000 was the largest for a Hooks game since 2019.

Jorge Ramos, the third batter of the night, put Tulsa in front with a three-run home run to left field. Hooks starter Rhett Kouba responded by setting down the next 15 in order to finish his 5.0 inning performance.

River Ryan, who kept the Hooks hitless over the first three innings was knocked out of the game in the fourth. Quincy Hamilton capitalized on a pair of walks by belting a home run down the right-field line to tie the game at 3. Three batters later, nine-hole hitter Chad Stevens stroked a two-run single into left to spark at 2-for-4 day.

Two Drillers errors opened the door for more Hooks runs in the fifth. Kenedy Corona's two-run double into left made it a 7-3 game.

Lefty Colton Gordon earned his first Double-A save with four shutout innings of relief.
