INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Fever point guard Tully Bevilaqua will miss four games in late July, in order to train with the Australian National Team prior to the upcoming Olympics in Beijing, China (Aug. 9-23). She will return to her native Australia following the Fever's game this Saturday at New York, July 19.

Bevilaqua will miss Indiana games at Chicago (July 22), vs. Minnesota (July 24), and at Sacramento (July 26) and Phoenix (July 27). No WNBA games will be played between July 28 and August 27.

Among eight WNBA veterans on the Australian Olympic women's basketball roster, Bevilaqua and the Seattle Storm's Lauren Jackson were the only Aussies to remain in the United States during the 2008 WNBA season. Other members of the Australian squad have trained together for the past two months. Jackson left the Storm following last Saturday's win over Los Angeles, and will miss five games to train in Australia.

Currently in her fourth season with the Fever, Bevilaqua was a gold medalist with the Australians in the 2006 World Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil - in what was her first opportunity to represent her country in international competition. Her selection to this summer's Australian Olympic Team is the first of her career.

"We will obviously miss Tully during her absence later this month," said Fever coach Lin Dunn, "but we wish her all the best as she prepares for the Olympics. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for her and she deserves the honor. Our other guards, particularly LaToya Bond, Tan White and Katie Douglas, are going to have to carry the load and pick up the intensity."

The Fever, 10-9, hosts a pair of home games this week when it entertains the Atlanta Dream on KnoZone Kids Day on Wednesday afternoon (1:00 p.m.), and the Seattle Storm during Inspiring Women Night, Friday, July 18 (7:00 p.m.). Former Fever coach and U.S. Olympic Women's Basketball Head Coach Anne Donovan is the Fever's honored guest on Friday. Led by WNBA All-Stars Tamika Catchings, Katie Douglas and Tammy Sutton-Brown, the Fever bids for its first WNBA Finals appearance after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in two of the past three seasons. Tickets are available at FeverBasketball.com.
