CHICAGO - The WNBA Chicago Sky (6-13) heads to Detroit this week to face off against the Eastern Conference-leading Shock (14-7) for the second time this season on Wednesday, July 16 at 11 a.m. Following their trip to Detroit, the Sky returns home to play the Connecticut Sun (13-8) on Friday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the UIC Pavilion, then heads to Connecticut on Sunday, July 20 for a 12 p.m. game at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
On Thursday, July 10 the Sky lost 75-67 to the Western Conference-leading San Antonio Silver Stars (15-6), despite 17 points from Jia Perkins and 14 points and 8 rebounds from Candice Dupree. On Saturday, July 12 the Sky were within two points with less than two minutes left but could not overcome the Fever (10-9) in a 66-57 loss on Saturday in Indiana. Dupree scored 19 points, Perkins added 10 and Chasity Melvin contributed 12 rebounds. On Sunday, July 13 the Chicago Sky built up a 31-point third quarter lead and coasted the rest of the way on Sunday for a 79-66 home win over the Atlanta Dream (2-19). Dupree and Perkins led the way for Chicago with 18 points apiece.
