Bethlehem Steel FC Secures Second-Consecutive Trip to USL Cup Playoffs

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After wrapping up its regular season with a victory over the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Bethlehem Steel FC has captured its second-consecutive appearance in the USL Cup Playoffs.

Steel FC claimed the coveted playoff spot Sunday afternoon at Goodman Stadium on the campus of Lehigh University, defeating the Rowdies by a 1-0 scoreline. With the three points, Steel FC will finish either fifth or sixth in the Eastern Conference but won't know its final placement until this evening upon the conclusion of New York Red Bull II's match against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

Steel FC will claim the fifth seed in the East and travel to fourth-seeded Charleston if Red Bulls II draws or loses in its finale. Should New York claim all three points against the Riverhounds, Steel FC would claim sixth and travel to third-placed Pittsburgh.

The official USL affiliate of the Philadelphia Union, Steel FC has had another record-breaking season in 2018, setting the club record for wins (14), goals (56), points (50) and victories at home (eight). The club has done this while getting younger than its 2017 playoff squad with six players 20-years-old or younger playing at least 500 minutes.
