New York Boulders News Release

(Ramapo, NY) On a day where the Boulders honored their New Jersey fans by transforming into the Bergen Boulders, the team's winning streak was snapped at six as Bergen fell 9-5.

The Tornadoes stormed out of the gate in the first inning, scoring three runs off of Boulders starter Gustavo Chacin. But Bergen would not waste anytime of its own in the bottom of the first as the Boulders loaded the bases with one out. Chris Valencia scored the first run when Ryan Scoma was hit by a pitch. Bergen was not done as newly acquired infielder Brandon Pinckney singled to drive in Keith Brachold and Phillip Cuadrado to tie the score at 3. Bergen would add one more to take the lead as Ryan Mollica's sacrifice fly brought Ryan Scoma home.

Worcester tied the game at four in the top of the second as Ryan Brockett singled to drive in Cameron Monger. After a quiet third inning, Bergen regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a Qualon Millender single that knocked in Cole Kraft.

That would prove to be all that Bergen had in them. With the score 5-4 in the top of the fifth, the Tornadoes posted three runs in the inning, thanks to home runs from Chris Torres and Cam Kneeland that made the tally 7-5 Worcester. The Tornadoes would add another two runs in the top of then ninth to make the final score 9-5.

Kevin Cooper was awarded the win for his eight innings of work. Cooper surrendered five runs on seven hits while striking out seven. Gustavo Chacin suffered the loss.

After a well-deserved day-off the Boulders return home Tuesday for a battle against Newark. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
