Gary SouthShore 9, New Jersey 6 (Regularly Scheduled Game)
Gary SouthShore holds off a late rally by New Jersey to win by the score of 9-6. Down 9-1 in the eighth inning, the Jackals put the first six batters on base to score four runs. In the ninth, they sent the winning run to the plate, but Matt Nandin popped out to second base with the bases loaded to end the ballgame. RailCats' right-hander Morgan Coombs earned his fourth win of the season after allowing one run on seven hits with five strikeouts. The top third of the RailCats lineup combined for seven runs with Mike Massaro going 3-for-5 and Mike Coles going 3-for-4 with a three-run home run.
Worcester 9, Rockland 5
The Worcester Tornadoes scored three runs in the fifth inning to overcome a 5-4 deficit and go on to win by a 9-5 final over the Rockland Boulders. The win by Worcester snaps Rockland's six-game winning streak. Tornadoes 3B Johnny Welch and 1B Alex Nunez went a combined 6-for-9 at the plate with three doubles, four runs scored and two RBI. Catcher Chris Torres and SS Cam Kneeland each chipped in with home runs for Worcester. Tornadoes starting pitcher Kevin Cooper notched his fourth win of the season after giving up five earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts.
