Normal CornBelters News Release
NORMAL, IL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by the Illinois Corn Farmers, got 12 strikeouts from starting pitcher Bobby Pritchett in his seven innings of work. Pritchett gave up only five hits, but three runs; however, his 12 Ks outshined everything as he led the CornBelters to a 6-4 win on the mound in Florence, KY.
The CornBelters never trailed in the game, jumping out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Then, two runs in the ninth inning padded the score enough to hold on to a victory, despite Mike LaLuna giving up a run in the bottom half of the inning. LaLuna pitched a two-inning save, striking out two batters himself.
Recent newcomer, Johnathan Ross had a huge night at the plate. He was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Brad Augustin also notched an RBI, and went 2-for-5 and scoring two runs himself.
Normal comes home Saturday to play River City at 7 PM on the final day of July. The broadcast on 95.9 FM and WJBC.com will begin at 6:45 PM.
