TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums saw the Windy City ThunderBolts break open a tie ballgame in the eighth as the Beach Bums fell to WC 10-1.

Despite the loss, the Beach Bums remain tied for the East Division Wild Card spot.

The ThunderBolts got on the board early on as Brandon Anderson came on to score on a groundout by Ryne White for a 1-0 Windy City lead.

Traverse City would knot things up in the fourth as with one out, Chase Burch and J. T. Hall singled. Two batters later, Andrew Franco lined a first-pitch fastball into centerfield for a base hit to score Burch and tie the game at 1-1.

The Beach Bums saw a bit of team history in the sixth inning as Ryan Platt struck out Nick Kuroczko to end the inning. It was Platt's 94th strikeout of the season tying him with David Nathanson for the Traverse City single season record.

The game would remain tied into the bottom of the eighth when Windy City would pull away, plating nine runs in the frame.

There was still some excitement for the Beach Bums in the ninth as Matt Brown singled to extend his consecutive game on-base streak to 39 games. Chase Burch extended his on-base streak to 31 games with a single and a walk.

The win went to Dustin Williams (4-3) who pitched a complete game for the ThunderBolts allowing one run on seven hits. Richard Folmer (2-2) took the loss in relief for the Beach Bums.

The middle game of the Windy City series comes up on Sunday with Jonny Bravo (3-0, 2.09) getting the start for the Beach Bums against Andrew Werner (7-2, 2.41) for the ThunderBolts. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with the pregame show on Sunny Country 101.9 beginning at 6:45. Traverse City will return home on Tuesday to take on the Cruisers again on Elvis Night at Wuerfel Park. For more information or tickets, call 943-0100 or log on to www.tcbeachbums.com.
