Beloit Snaps Tie with Three Runs in Ninth Inning

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Beloit Snappers broke open a pitchers' duel with three runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 4-1 at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.
The Snappers (15-19) scored in the second inning on back-to-back doubles by Hunter Hargrove and Jordan Devencenzi for a 1-0 lead.
Tristen Lutz tied the game for the Rattlers (18-21) with a two-out solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning. The homer was the fourth of the season for Lutz.
Nelson Hernández had another stellar outing as the Rattlers starting pitcher. He allowed one run on four hits over seven innings. In his last two starts, Hernández has allowed two runs over fourteen innings.
Ivan Andueza was the starter for the Snappers and he worked five innings. He was touched for three hits and struck out six over his night before giving way to the bullpen.
Wisconsin's offense nearly gave him a lead in the bottom of the sixth. KJ Harrison was at second with one out when Devin Hairston singled to right field. Mickey McDonald, who made two spectacular catches earlier in the game, came up firing to the plate and threw out Harrison to deny Wisconsin the lead.
Beloit broke the tie in the top of the ninth. Hargrove and Devencenzi started the rally with one-out singles. Logan Farrar followed with a tripled to the gap in right-center to score both runners. Jesus Lopez, who had driven in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning of Beloit's 7-6 win on Tuesday afternoon, was next and he doubled to right-center to score Farrar and the Snappers were up 4-1.
The Rattlers managed a two-out single from Zach Clark in the bottom of the ninth, but that was all they could muster.
Mitchell Jordan was the winning pitcher for Beloit. He nearly gave up the run in the sixth inning, but would not give up a run over the final four innings while striking out four.
The five-game series is even with the Rattlers winning the first two games and the Snappers winning games three and four.
The final game of the series is set for Thursday night at Neuroscience Group Field. Dylan File (5-1, 3.10) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Beloit has named Jean Ruiz (0-2, 5.19) as their starter. Game time is 6:35pm.
Any Law Enforcement employee who shows a badge or ID at the ticket window will receive a $1 bleacher seat for this game courtesy of Kwik Trip on Law Enforcement Night. There will also be displays of vehicles from various agencies throughout the Fox Cities for the kids, too. Additionally, there will be some special guests at the game the kids will want to meet as the Paw Patrol gang is scheduled to be at the game courtesy of Fox Valley Animal Referral Center.
The first 1,000 fans to attend this game will receive a Timber Rattlers Travel Mug courtesy of SOAR Fox Cities.
Fans of legal drinking age may enjoy 12-ounce craft beers for $2. Cher-Make brats are also just $2 and they are available for everyone on a Craft Brews & Brats Thursday with WAPL. Beers from Fox River Brewing Company, Badger Club Amber, and many, many more will be available.
