CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Beloit Snappers rallied from a pair of three-run deficits and notched a 10-7 come-from-behind win Sunday against the Cedar Rapids Kernels in front of 3,609 fans at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Beloit (26-15, 58-52) moved percentage points ahead of Cedar Rapids (27-16, 59-53) at the top of the Western Division playoff race.

The first three runs of Sunday's contest allowed the Kernels to build a 3-0 lead. Gabriel Maciel doubled in the second inning to bring in Jacob Pearson. Ryan Jeffers added a towering solo home run to start the fourth, and Akil Baddoo came through with an RBI single during the fifth that plated Michael Davis.

Beloit tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the seventh. Jack Meggs hit a ground-rule double that drove in Hunter Hargrove. A wild pitch allowed Logan Farrar to score before Meggs came home on Jesus Lage's game-tying single.

Cedar Rapids answered with three runs in its half of the seventh and regained the lead, 6-3. Pearson tallied the go-ahead run on Baddoo's second RBI single. Ben Rodriguez followed with a two-run single, bringing in Maciel and Davis.

A seven-run surge within the eighth pushed Beloit in front by a 10-6 margin. Lazaro Armenteros led off with a solo shot. Farrar started a string of three consecutive RBI hits with a two-run, game-tying double. Meggs delivered a go-ahead double prior to an RBI single for Lage. Later in the inning, Armenteros was hit by a pitch to drive Lage, and Austin Beck produced a sacrifice fly.

The Kernels threatened late but only plated one run. Cedar Rapids loaded the bases in the eighth and cut its deficit to 10-7 on Maciel's RBI groundout. The potential game-tying run came to the plate during the ninth, but Beloit induced a game-ending double play to secure the win.

Heath Bowers (6-2) was credited as the winning pitcher Sunday while Jesus Zambrano earned his fifth save. Calvin Faucher and Rickey Ramirez (0-3) were each charged with blown saves with Ramirez also tagged for the loss.
