Adirondack Frostbite News Release
GLENS FALLS, NY -- Hugo Belanger scored three goals to lead the Adirondack Frostbite past the Elmira Jackals 5-2 on Friday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Mike Berry had three assists, while Kevin Watters added a goal and two assists.
Elmira scored the first goal of the night 10:02 into the opening period. Carl Drakensjo centered a pass for Sam Paolini who was alone at the top of the crease. Paolini slid a shot through the five hole of Kris Tebbs for his second goal of the season.
Belanger scored his first of the night exactly three minutes later to tie the game. Belanger skated to the left-wing circle, and beat Jackals' goaltender Nick Boucher over his left shoulder for his fourth goal of the season.
The Frostbite took a 2-1 lead at 19:35 of the first on Belanger's second tally. The goal was almost a carbon copy of the first goal, as he once again took a shot from the left-wing circle and beat Boucher over his left shoulder.
Watters gave Adirondack a 3-1 lead 3:52 into the second, as he tipped home a rebound past Boucher. The goal was Watters' ninth of the season, and he now has at least one goal in all seven games this season.
Lyon Porter added to the Frostbite lead just under two minutes later as he blasted a shot past Boucher for his third goal of the season.
Elmira pulled within two at 10:12 of the second with a power-play goal, ending the Frostbite penalty kill streak at 29 consecutive kills. Kevin Cooper was left unguarded on the far post, and he tucked a shot home.
Belanger completed his hat trick at 6:11 of the third, off of assists from Watters and Scott Drevitch.
Both Pierre-Luc Leblond and David Moccia recorded an assist in the game, giving each player his first professional point.
The Frostbite conclude their three-game home stand tomorrow night, hosting the Danbury Trashers at 7:35 p.m. Tickets are available at the Glens Falls Civic Center Box Office, or by calling (518) 798-0202.
