
Trashers fall to Mallards to snap two-game win streak

DANBURY, CT--The Trashers two-game winning streak came to an end on Friday night before 2,256 at the Danbury Ice Arena as Quad City topped the Trashers 3-1, with the final goal an empty-netter with one second remaining.
The Mallards took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Evgeny Lazarev at the 9:49 mark in what was the only score of the first period. Carlyle Lewis' second of the season tied the game at the 8:02 point in the second from Mike Omicioli and Donny Grover, but the Mallards regained control at the 12:55 mark when Jesse Rycroft netted his 2nd of the year.
Quad City's empty net goal was scored by Glen Detulleo with one second remaining, as he finished with two points on the night.
The Mallards were 0-9 on the power play, including two 5 on 3 advantages, while the Trashers were 1-5 with the man-advantage. Sly Daigle stopped 21 of 23 shots while Jason Tapp saved 27 of 28 for his 3rd win of the season.
