Bees Win To Take Second In A Row From Quad Cities

Davenport, IA (Aug 17, 2008) - The Burlington Bees have taken the first two games of a four-game series at Quad Cities after defeating the River Bandits 4-2 Sunday night. David Lough and Ryan Eigsti each had homeruns in the game as the Bees scored the final three runs of the game to win.

The Bees opened up the scoring in the first inning by scoring one run. With one out, Johnny Giavotella and Mike Moustakas each singled before Jason Taylor walked to load the bases. Clint Robinson then reached on a Fielder's Choice, which scored Giavotella and gave the Bees a 1-0 lead.

Quad Cities scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead. The Bees answered in the top of the fifth when Lough hit a solo homerun to tie the ballgame. For Lough, it was his 13th homerun of the season. The Bees then took the lead back in the top of the seventh inning. With two outs and nobody on base, Eigsti hit his eighth homerun of the season to give the Bees a 3-2 lead.

The Bees picked up some insurance in the top of the eighth inning by scoring one more run. Giavotella led the inning off with a base hit, stole second and then moved to third on a wild pitch. With one out, Robinson hit a sacrifice fly to score Giavotella and give the Bees a 4-2 lead.

Danny Gutierrez got the start for the Bees. In 5.2 innings he allowed two unearned runs on two hits with eight strikeouts and two walks. Gutierrez did not factor into the decision. Brandon Sisk pitched the final 3.1 innings allowing just four hits with six strikeouts no walks. Sisk picked up the win to move to 1-1 this season.

The Bees had nine hits in the game. The top three hitters in the lineup, Lough, Giavotella and Moustakas, each had two hits. Robinson was the only Bee with multiple RBI as he had two. Giavotella scored two runs.

The Bees continue the series at Quad Cities Monday evening. Danny Duffy is the scheduled starter for the Bees. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. The Bees will return home Thursday August 21 to begin their final eight-game home stand.
