Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees opened a five game road series in Tacoma with a 7-6 win over the Rainiers on Wednesday night.

The game was tied at 1-1 in the fourth when Jose Miguel Fernandez launched a solo home run to right field, his eighth of the season to put Salt Lake in front. Michael Hermosillo added to the lead with an opposite field bases empty blast to right, his seventh of the year, to extend the Bees' lead to 3-1. Salt Lake would add three runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Rymer Liriano, a double play with the bases loaded and a run scoring single by David Fletcher for a 6-1 lead.

The Bees led 7-3 after seven innings, but Tacoma scored one in the eighth and two in the ninth to pull to within one, but Ryan Clark struck out Danny Muno to end the game and record his first career save at the Triple-A level. Salt Lake starter Ivan Pineyro, who was a late replacement for scheduled starter Parker Bridwell, earned the win. Pineyro (2-4) went five innings and allowed three runs on four hits with three strikeouts and no walks. Fernandez and Liriano led the Bees 14 hit attack, as each delivered three hits and one run batted in. Hermosillo and Jabari Blash each added two hits, as the Bees are now a season high ten games above .500 and have a season best four game lead over second place Albuquerque in the Pacific Southern Division.
