Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - Stocked with their biggest lead in the division so far this season, the first-place Salt Lake Bees return home to Smith's Ballpark to face the Round Rock Express in a brief three-game series starting Tuesday night.

Salt Lake returns home after winning a five-game road set against the Tacoma Rainiers four games to one. During that series, the Bees batted .289 as a team while smashing six home runs.

The Bees' offense remains the story of the season thus far, led by infielder David Fletcher. He leads the Pacific Coast League in multiple categories, including hits with 78 and is tied for the top spot in extra-base hits with 35 and in doubles with 24.

It will be the first and only time that Salt Lake and Round Rock, the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, meet this season. The Express took the series three games to one last season, outscoring the Bees 28-11.

This season has been a challenging one for the Express, who currently sit in last place in their division and hold the PCL's third-worst record. The most noteworthy name on the current roster is Willie Calhoun, ranked as the Rangers organization's second-best prospect.

In addition to enjoying first-place baseball, fans in attendance at Smith's Ballpark will also be entertained by some exciting promotions. Tuesday's game will be Taco Tuesday where $2 will buy two tacos while Wednesday's contest will feature hot dogs for just $1. The final game of the series on Thursday will be dedicated to seniors of all kinds on Senior Nights. Anyone 62 and over or 2018 college and high school graduates can receive two free tickets at the Smith's Ballpark box office by presenting their valid ID at the box office.
