Hidalgo, Texas-Thanks to three third period goals in a span of 4:48, the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees defeated the Fort Worth Brahmas 4-1 in Friday night CHL action at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo, Texas.
Rio Grande Valley's Dwayne Hay and Fort Worth's Wes Mason traded first period goals, and after a scoreless second period, the game would be decided in the final twenty minutes of regulation.
The Killer Bees struck quickly in the third period, with right wing Trevor Weisgerber tallying an unassisted goal at the 5:42 mark of the third. With the momentum, Rio Grande Valley then cemented the game away with insurance goals from Hay and Bobby Davis.
Larry Sterling took the loss in net for Fort Worth, allowing the four Bees goals on 32 shots. Evan Lindsay earned the win for the Bees, stopping 30 of the 31 Brahmas shots sent his way.
The loss by the Brahmas, coupled by the Memphis RiverKings 5-4 win against Tulsa, drops Fort Worth (12-20-5) into a third place tie in the Northeast Division standings with Memphis.
Fort Worth will try to bounce back on Saturday night, January 21, when they travel to Laredo to take on the Laredo Bucks at 7:30 p.m. Fans can watch the game live on www.chltv.com.
