Beef hopefuls brave weather for tryout

Omaha Beef News Release

Omaha, Nebraska - Thirty-seven athletes made their way through the snow, ice, and high winds last weekend to the Center Sports Complex to try to earn a roster spot with the Omaha Beef of the United Indoor Football Association. The Omaha based strength and conditioning company, the Xplosive Edge, ran athletes through numerous speed and agility tests. Following the testing, the athletes were given the opportunity to show their stuff in two-hour sessions on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Omaha Beef coaching staff, along with several volunteer coaches, put the athletes through individual and group drills on both days before finishing with team sessions. "Several athletes really caught our attention and we were happy with the group as a whole," said Head Coach Robert Fuller. "Everyone that braved the elements to try-out for us proved their desire to be a part of one of professional indoor football's most successful franchises."

The Omaha Beef will hold two "Invite only" mini camps before finalizing their 2006 training camp roster. Training camp officially opens on March 10, 2006 and the Beef will have exactly two weeks before the season opener on Friday, March 24, at the Omaha Civic Auditorium against the defending United Indoor Football League Champion Sioux Falls Storm. "We really work hard to evaluate talent, that's why we have two day try-outs and film everything," Coach Fuller added. "We only have 11 practices in camp to build a team and prepare for the League champions so we have to get it right."

The Omaha Beef will announce the dates and times of their "Invite only" mini camps soon. Athletes interested in participating are encouraged to send game film and a brief bio to Head Coach Robert Fuller at the Omaha Beef office. Athletes must be invited to participate in the upcoming workouts and can check the Beef website at www.beeffootball.com for updates.
