Omaha Beef News Release
Omaha, Nebraska - The Omaha Beef dominated the Sioux Falls Storm during the first quarter of Saturday's game in Sioux Falls. Omaha led the game 14-0 with 4:40 left in the quarter. Omaha held Sioux Falls to just 62 yards in the quarter and had the lead 14-7 when the quarter ended.
The Beef extended their lead to 17-7 in the second quarter as the Beef defense continued to control Sioux Falls as they did not allow a point in the quarter. The Storm scored a safety with 5:30 left in the half to make the score 17-9 at halftime.
The second-half was all Storm. Sioux Falls outscored Omaha 25-7 in the half as the Beef fell by a final score of 34-24. Quarterback Chuck Wright passed for 190 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Micah Arnold accounted for 129 all-purpose yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Clint Brown was in command of the Storm wide receivers in the first-half and finished the game with six tackles.
Beef Head Coach Robert Fuller says "That was a tough game to lose because we know if we connect on a few opportunities in the second half we hand Sioux Falls their first loss of the season. This is a close-knit group that will rebound and shift their focus to Bloomington."
The Beef return home on May 20th, as they will battle the Bloomington Extreme, the UIF's newest team. It's "Military Night" and anyone with a valid Military ID gets 2 tickets for the price of 1 in Touchdown Alley. Individual game tickets still remain for all Beef home games and can be purchased by calling Jenny Cheney at the Omaha Beef Football office at 402-346-2333.
