HIDALGO, Texas- The Allen Americans completed a sweep of the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees Sunday afternoon in dominating fashion, winning 5-2 in front of 3,130 at State Farm Arena.

The Americans got on the board first 5:37 into the game, when Nino Musitelli scored a power play goal on a wrist shot from the left wing that snuck past Bees goaltender Jerad Kaufmann and into the net.

Bruce Graham added a goal to make it a 2-0 game with just 8 seconds to go in the first frame. Graham navigated his way from behind the net, then turned to the backhand and lofted the puck over Kaufmann for the tally.

Colton Yellow Horn made it a 3-0 game when he deflected home a Dave Bonk pass 2:39 into the second period. Judd Blackwater followed that up with a rebound goal 8:24 into the frame which extended the Americans lead to 4-0.

Very early in the third period Dominic D'Amour scored to cut the Americans' lead to 4-1, but Tobias Whelan would answer with a short handed goal to make it 5-1 in favor of Allen.

Mark Magnowski's tally late in the third made it a 5-2 game, but the Americans would hold on for the three-goal victory.

Chris Whitley made 30 saves in net for the Americans, improving his 2011 postseason record to 3-0.

The Americans will now move on to the Berry Conference Semi-Finals, where their opponent is yet to be determined.
