
Killer Bees Eliminated from Playoffs by Allen

Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
HIDALGO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees were eliminated on Sunday afternoon by the Allen Americans with a 5-2 loss at the State Farm Arena. The Americans won the best of five series by three games to none margin. Dominic D'Amour and Mark Magnowski scored for the Bees in defeat.
The Allen Americans would score the first two goals of the game, much like the entire series.
Nino Musitelli got the Americans on the board first with a power-play goal at 5:37 of the period. Musitelli brought the puck into the zone and took a shot that slid through the pads of Bees goalie Jerad Kaufmann.
With only 8.6 seconds remaining in the first period the Americans scored their second of the period as Bruce Grahman wrapped the puck around the back of the net and backhanded a shot over the shoulder of Kaufmann.
Allen outshot the Bees by an 18-10 mark in the first.
Allen added a second pair of goals in the second period as Judd Blackwater scored twice at the 2:39 mark and the 8:24 mark of the second period. Blackwater scored four goals against the Bees in the teams three game series.
Allen continued to send the rubber towards Jerad Kaufmann who made 12 saves in the second period, and 28 through the first two periods of play.
The Bees would get one goal back in the third period as Dominic D'Amour wristed a shot from the point that deflected off the post to the back of the net. Tomas Klempa and Aaron Lewicki added the assists for the goals at the 1:28 mark.
Allen added their fifth goal at the 9:24 point of the third with a shorthanded goal by Tobias Whelan. The Americans were shorthanded after Kip Brennan was issued a game misconduct for head butting.
Mark Magnowski would score for the Bees with less than a minute remaining but there not enough time for a potential Bees rally. Brett Clouthier and Tyler Lehrke earned the assists on the goal.
