
Beavers, Timbers team up with First Franklin to make a difference

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers and Portland Timbers are teaming up with First Franklin to present the 2005 Doernbecher Golf Tournament at Langdon Farms Golf Club on Wednesday, Aug. 3.
As part of the Beavers' and Timbers' ongoing commitment to the community, players and top-level staff representatives from the teams will take part in the event that will benefit Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Southwest Portland.
The 2005 Doernbecher Golf Tournament offers several ways to participate with varying sponsorship levels available. Some of the sponsorships include local celebrities completing foursomes. These local celebrities include local media, players from the Portland Beavers and select representatives from the Portland Timbers.

Registration begins at 12:45 p.m., with a shotgun start scheduled for 1:45 p.m. The day of golf will be followed by dinner, a silent auction and an awards ceremony, with those activities scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Participants in this special event receive a golf shirt, wind shirt, hat, starter goodie bag, snacks and beverages on the course, as well as tickets to the silent auction, dinner and awards ceremony.
Silent auction items include an extensive and impressive array of minor league and major league team memorabilia as well as items generously donated by local companies. Items up for auction include an autographed Tony Hawk skateboard and autographed jerseys from Oakland Athletics pitcher Barry Zito, San Diego Padres shortstop Khalil Greene, Sacramento Kings guard Mike Bibby and soccer phenom Freddy Adu.
Leading up to the golf tournament, a group of Portland Beavers players will visit with Doernbecher patients on Friday, July 29, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
