Sacramento River Cats News Release

Memphis, TN - The Sacramento River Cats blew a 7-1 lead to fall to the Memphis Redbirds, 8-7, on Thursday night at AutoZone Park in Memphis. Sacramento led by six runs entering the 6th inning before the Redbirds scored one in the 6th, one in the 7th and five runs in the 8th for the victory. The loss could not come at a worse time for the River Cats, whose lead over streaking Tucson stood at just 4 games entering Thursday in the PCL's Pacific Conference Southern Division. Sacramento had the tying run on base in the 9th by way of a lead-off walk by Jack Cust, who was pinch-run for by Jermaine Clark. Clark, however, was stranded as Memphis reliever Ricky Stone struck out the next three batters in a row to end the game. The Cats go for a series split with Memphis on Friday, when LHP Dan Meyer (1-6, 6.10) takes the mound for Sacramento against the Redbirds' RHP Adam Wainwright (6-7, 3.94).
