Beavers Take Series from RedHawks

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Beavers beat the Oklahoma RedHawks 6-2 in the final game of their four-game series by racking up twelve hits, including a big double by Alex Pelaez in the fifth. The Beavers took the series 3-1 in before 4,178 Friday night at PGE Park.

Tagg Bozied set the evening off with a solo shot to left, giving Portland (24-12) an early 1-0 lead.

The fifth inning surge started with a single by Bernie Castro, who stole second and wound up at third after Oklahoma pitcher Robert Ellis walked Bozied and Bay to load the bases. Next came a bases-clearing double down the third base line by Pelaez to put the Beavers up 4-0. Donaldo Mendez singled two batters later to score Pelaez, making it 5-0.

Oklahoma (19-17) got on the board in the sixth after a sac-fly scored Jeff Pickler and in the seventh, off a Danny Ardoin solo shot.

Dennis Tankersley registered the win for Portland, striking out three and walking four in six innings.
