Tucson Drops Series Opener in Las Vegas

The Las Vegas 51's scored three runs with two outs in the third inning on their way to a 4-0 shutout of the Tucson Sidewinders Saturday night at Cashman Field. Tucson mustered five singles in the loss and advanced only one man as far as second base in the game. The last 13 Sidewinders were retired to end the game.

Greg Swindell suffered the loss for Tucson. The left-hander allowed nine hits and three runs in five innings of work. Tony McKnight earned the win allowing no runs in five innings of work. McKnight induced two double plays and allowed only five singles.

Jason Romano's RBI double plated Joe Thurston with the game's first run in the third inning. Chin-Feng Chen and Koyie Hill would follow with run scoring hits.

Byung-Hyun Kim will join the Sidewinders Sunday in time for a rehab assignment. Kim will start against the 51's Scott Winchester (1-2 5.50) in a 1:30 p.m. game at Cashman Field.

Tucson dropped to 15-19, ten games back of first place Las Vegas. Game two of the series will be Sunday afternoon.
